Someries District Swimming Gala 2009 Results

This year we had in the region of just over 173 swimmers aged from 6 to 18 participating. These were from sections covering all 7 groups in the District with members of the Explorer Unit jumping in with their support.

Due to a number of entrants being pulling out due to sickness some juggling of the heats had to be done, thanks to Chris Shortland and Denise O’Hara for doing a grand job with this. Some 40 heats later we had winners and my congratulations go to all participants for their determination and doing their best in making it to the finish.

On behalf of the District I would like to thank John Taylor and John Pinnock, for keeping the scores, Tracey Bull and Gail Spraggon-Quinn for collecting the entrance fees, Chris Haden for the lane judging and supervising all the lane judges, Norma and Cork Watson for providing the refreshments. I would like to thank all the Explorer Scouts who helped out by poolside as this was much appreciated. I would also like to thank all the leaders, parents and the young people for their support with this event after all without them this would not have taken place.
